About IDEA Information Systems

Solutions
Based on industry standards, the IDEA ALM system reflects IDEA’s commitment to the development of effective management tools that deliver the most up-to-date capabilities to archivists, librarians, museum curators and their users. Over a decade of experience and more than 400 local and international loyal customers attest to the software strengths and ALM acumen that IDEA has developed to meet the technological challenges that cultural heritage institutions face in the ever-developing information world. These customers decided to trust their heritage in our hands.
Significant milestones
Since its inception in 1999, IDEA has been involved in archive, library and museum automation, reaching a 70% market share in the local market. Leveraging its dynamic metadata mapping technology and core capabilities for transparent handling of physical, digital and logical information of various origins, languages, and structures, the company has extended its business to cultural heritage and research institutes. IDEA gained momentum with the selection of its system in 2000 by the Yad Vashem Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority to serve as the central infrastructure of its information centers. The Yad Vashem archives, library, museums and school use over 70 million items and 500 terabytes of data including testimonies, historical documents, reports, reviews, books, articles, pictures, scanned documents, museum artifacts and videos. Another milestone which marked IDEA’s leading role in museum automation was the installation of IDEA Muse in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem in 2003. The Israel Museum is one of the largest of its kind worldwide and known for the Shrine of the Book, which is the home of several exceptional archaeological finds. The implementation included the entire museum collection, supporting the curators’ work processes and comprising art, Judaica and archeological items. Work flows were set up for special artifacts in 27 departments. Recognized as a leading vendor in the heritage assets technology industry, the IDEA ALM platform was selected in 2006 as a cornerstone for the Mosaica Pan-European cultural heritage initiative. The project utilizes service-oriented architecture (SOA) definition to connect the semantic web and web-based ontology with the GIS (Geographical Information System), and is comprised of cultural heritage resources such as artifacts, pictures paintings, photos and much more. Further success in the North American market brought some leading establishments to choose Idea’s solutions, among which are the Joint Distribution Committee, the Judah L. Magnes Museum, the Virginian Holocaust Museum and NBC Universal.
